Thomas Knoll, a graduate student at the University of Michigan, developed a program called Display to display grayscale images on the Macintosh Plus computer. The program was initially named Display by Thomas, but later caught the attention of his brother John Knoll, who worked at Industrial Light & Magic (the company responsible for special effects in Star Wars). John encouraged Thomas to commercialize this program.John also played a key role in the development of early versions of Photoshop, contributing several plugins. During a product demonstration, someone suggested that Thomas rename his software to Photoshop, which he appreciated. After being acquired by
Adobe, this name was ret
AIned. Thanks to the efforts of Thomas Knoll and other
Adobe engineers, Photoshop version 1.0.7 was officially released in February 1990.In addition, John Knoll also contributed to the development of several plugins for Photoshop.Note: The information in this article is based on Wikipedia (
